9 GRAMS 9 GRAMS transmedia project is a play, a documentary on the making of the play and a Digital Experience created to help families and former prisoners heal.

Before prison I was a carefree Hollywood screenwriter. Nothing prepared me for the shame, stigma, terror and loneliness of imprisonment or the dehumanizing torture of “the hole.” My newfound awareness that mass incarceration results from racial discrimination in the criminal justice system (in the US and abroad) drives me to create art that heals, empowers, and educates the formerly incarcerated and their families. 9 GRAMS is that art.
