The Norwood News has been a longstanding publication who has covered the Northwest Bronx, including Bedford Park, Kingsbridge Heights, Fordham, and Norwood, for over 40 years! Beautiful and diverse parts of the Bronx that I am very proud to represent.

I am deeply saddened that the Norwood News is closing indefinitely. Thank you to Síle Moloney and the entire Norwood News team for always being a reliable source of local news and a friend to the community.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families who continue to grieve the loved ones who were senselessly taken from them on that fateful day, as well as those who have lost loved ones in the years since to illnesses related to the attacks and their aftermath.

Our City owes an immeasurable debt of gratitude to the brave first responders whose courage, determination, and willingness to carry out their duties under the most unimaginable circumstances saved countless lives and gave us strength during one of its darkest hours.

September 11 also reminded us of something powerful about New York: when faced with unfathomable tragedy, we came together. Regardless of our differences, we showed the world the extraordinary strength and compassion of our City.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

We will hold easy-to-follow training sessions at the Bronx Library Center to educate participants on effective outreach to our community about their constitutional rights and conduct direct outreach at schools nearby.

Last week, Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas and I submitted a sign-on letter with 70 other Elected Officials urging the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) to reject the excessive health insurance premium increases proposed for the 2027 plan year. 

DFS approved health insurance premium increases for the coming year at significantly lower rates than what insurers requested!

Thank you to everyone who signed on to the letter as well as Acting Superintendent Kaitlin Asrow and Governor Hochul for responding to our concerns.
