Public high school students who identified their sexual orientation as le***an, gay, bisexual, or some other way were more likely to report feeling persistent sadness or hopelessness compared with heterosexual students. This may be linked to the discrimination, bullying, or social rejection that LGBTQ+ students can face.

It’s essential to provide access to mental health resources in order to create supportive environments where all students feel accepted. Join us at jewishboard.org/signup for updates on how we're creating supportive environments for LGBTQ+ students.

Shavuot invites us to reflect on how wisdom is received, shared, and passed forward. A powerful idea in Jewish tradition is that revelation did not happen to a single person—it happened in community. This is why we look toward lived experience when providing care with dignity, compassion, and hope.
