KAFSC’s Executive Director was honored to participate in the roundtable discussion, “When Equity Is on the Line: Values-Forward Nonprofit Leadership at a Time of Threat,” at the Social Equity Leadership Conference (SELC) 2026 at Rutgers University.

Joined by Kimberly Hardy Watson, CEO of Graham Windham (TAG), Carla Chávez, Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer at ACLU-NJ (TAG), and moderated by Stella Biillings, Chief of Strategy and Board Engagement at Safe Horizon (Tag), the conversation explored what it means to lead with courage, clarity, and equity during a time of uncertainty and challenge. The discussion was powerful, timely, and deeply rooted in the realities facing nonprofit leaders and the communities we serve.

KAFSC is grateful to be part of these critical conversations and remains committed to advancing safety, dignity, and justice for immigrant survivors and families.

In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, KAFSC was honored to participate in JLL’s “Power of Community Connections” event and share space with community leaders, advocates, and partners committed to advancing inclusion and equity.

During the event, we had the opportunity to share KAFSC’s mission and engage in meaningful conversations around cultural understanding, survivor advocacy, and the importance of building safer, more connected communities. For KAFSC, opportunities like these are especially important because they help amplify the experiences and needs of immigrant and survivor communities in spaces where collaboration and collective action can lead to lasting impact.

We are grateful to for creating an environment where diverse voices are not only welcomed, but valued, and for recognizing that investing in community partnerships is essential to building a more equitable future for all.

Language should never be a barrier to civic participation.

KAFSC was proud to join advocates, organizers, and community leaders at ’s Building Civic Power Across Languages Convening, a meaningful gathering dedicated to ensuring that every voice is heard, in every language.

For the immigrant survivors and families we serve, language access is more than communication—it is access to safety, dignity, resources, and justice. Conversations like these deepen our commitment to showing up wherever decisions are made and advocating for systems that reflect the needs of our communities.

This work is ongoing, and KAFSC will continue standing alongside our communities to build civic power, expand access, and ensure no one is left behind.
