It’s difficult to believe 10 years have already passed since the devastating massacre at Pulse Night Club, when a gunman, consumed by hatred and bigotry, murdered 49 innocent people in cold blood.

In the decade since, America has not achieved nearly enough progress towards permanently ending its gun violence crisis or protecting our LGBTQ+ friends and loved ones.

With the memory of every victim of that terrible day in our hearts, our fight for change must continue on. And we must win it.

While Elon Musk is hard-at-work congratulating himself on hoarding enough wealth to become our world’s first trillionaire, millions of Americans remain a missed paycheck away from being unable to feed their kids, or keep a roof over their heads, or find a doctor when they’re sick.

Many others already missed that paycheck when Elon Musk and his DOGE cronies, out of boredom and an over-inflated sense of importance, fired them without any cause or care.

There are countless threats America faces today – income inequality exists at the center of most of them. And Elon Musk, with all his grotesque greed, is its worst perpetrator in history.

So enjoy the $1,000,000,000,000, Mr. Musk. You did not earn it. And it will not fulfill you.

James Talarico and Becca Balint were not the first candidates to be imitated by AI without their consent. If Congress does not act quickly, they will be far from the last.

Incidents like these are why I previously introduced the REAL Political Ads Act to bring transparency to AI generated political ads – because voters should be able to trust that the words they hear politicians say actually came from their mouths, and not from some digital double’s prompt.

Another day, another sinister attack by House Republicans in their endless effort to make America less safe, less affordable, and less like the nation we love and deserve. While we already knew their sole concern has only ever been pleasing Donald Trump and staying out of the crosshairs of his tantrums, today’s reconciliation bill and the many schemes and handouts it comprises are just further proof of the extent of their subservience to the president and abandonment of the people. At a time when millions of Americans are struggling to breathe under the weight of rising costs caused by their president’s illegal war and poor policies, they have, once again, demonstrated no regard for any relief for working people whatsoever.

No, these congressional sycophants have made their priorities clear: From funneling another $70 billion to their war on immigrants that overwhelmingly harms Black and brown communities through racial profiling, indefinite detainment, and the disappearing of our neighbors, to ensuring the insurrectionists who brutalized cops can get a lucrative payday for their crimes, to further enriching Donald Trump and his cabal of cronies who are always pursuing their next prize to loot, this reconciliation bill is just the latest chapter in the long story of corruption that has been written since January 20, 2025. These are not public servants – only the president’s!

In February, I wrote a letter to the former (and fired) DHS Secretary warning of the severe danger Trump's visa fee posed to America's already short-staffed healthcare sector.

100 Members of Congress from both parties signed it. Dozens of industry leaders endorsed it. And the administration ignored each and every one of us, because wanton cruelty is all they know.

I am thankful to our courts for standing for the law and reason when the White House could not. Now, it's time for Congress to pass my bipartisan legislation that will permanently defeat this disastrous, discriminatory fee, and secure the wellbeing of our healthcare sector despite this president's efforts to harm it.

A federal judge concluded that it constituted an unlawful tax Congress never authorized.

While our nation slept, Senate Republicans voted with their signature cowardice and cruelty to deliver another $72 BILLION for ICE and CBP, all in the name of escalating Trump’s brutal war against immigrant Americans.

Every one of them knows that ungodly sum of money could be spent improving communities in all corners of this country. But they have no interest in pursuing humane and decent endeavors, like saving Medicare, or housing vulnerable people, or feeding hungry children.

No, these villains will not be satisfied until every last dime is used and abused to continue detaining our innocent neighbors indefinitely, to continue ripping children right out from their mothers arms, and to continue inflicting an even greater shame on America than that which has already befallen it.

I urge the House to reject this despicable handout at the first opportunity. I certainly will.
