On June 19, 1865, some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas. Two years after the Emancipation Proclamation and the same year that the 13th Amendment was ratified. Seedco was proud to join Artistic Noise and Senator Robert Jackson’s office for this amazing exhibit.

Over the month of May, talented young artists from Inwood and Washington Heights met at Seedco with staff from Artistic Noise to learn about photography, explore their neighborhood, and discuss the issue of violence.

Portraits Against Gun Violence is an amazing exploration of Upper Manhattan through the eyes of youth, using 35mm black and white cameras and their own words to reflect on what their neighborhood is and could be.

Medicaid renewals will not be automatic this year. It's important to update your contact and household information to ensure you get your renewal instructions.

In January 2020, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a Public Health Emergency (PHE) due to the spread of Covid-19 in the United States. During the PHE, the annual renewal process and most Medicaid terminations were suspended. On December 23, 2022, Congress set April 1, 2023 as the end of the continuous enrollment requirement and the beginning of Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) renewals. To ensure you do not lose coverage, please contact your state provider to make sure your contact information is up to date and watch out for additional information. Why are Wednesdays special? Seedco celebrates the Workforce on Wednesdays (and every day!).

In our Mid-South Region, it's "GET TO WORK WEDNESDAY" - together with the Tennessee Department of Correction and Millennium Staffing, we hosted a job fair every Wednesday of February and March.

In our New York Office, we've been hosting the "WORKFORCE WEDNESDAYS" with job fairs on the last Wednesday of February, March, and April and one-on-one resume reviews twice a month including one TODAY!

Marla Smith-Brown, Senior Director of Seedco's Mid-South Regional Office (Seedco Mid-South) was joined by Travis Wilson, proud father and Program Manager of the Strong Fathers, Stronger Families Mid-South program and Cletis Foster, proud father and grandfather and a Lead Navigator in the Linking Yourself and Neighbors to Coverage program.

These passionate members of our team spoke about the resources available to parents and families especially during pregnancy.
