JUST IN: 🇷🇺🇺🇸Lavrov condemns U.S. action in Venezuela as a violation of international law.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has strongly condemned the U.S. operation in Venezuela, calling it “an unacceptable violation of the sovereignty of an independent state.”
Lavrov said that respect for national sovereignty is a key principle of international law, and accused the United States of crossing a dangerous line by using military force to seize a sitting head of state.
His comments come after President Donald Trump confirmed that U.S. forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and transferred him out of the country following military strikes.
Moscow warned that such actions undermine global stability and set a precedent that could be used against any country in the future. Russian officials say the situation represents a serious escalation and have called for international condemnation.
