Congresswoman Julia Letlow accusations against Fleming for Louisiana boarder security position are viementlly incorrect.

Facts matter!

Let's set the record straight.

The vote in question was not about being opposed to border security. Dr. John Fleming's concern was how limited taxpayer dollars were being spent during a time when American troops were actively fighting in Afghanistan.

According to Fleming, our soldiers were experiencing serious vehicle and equipment issues in the war zone. He believed available funding should be directed toward protecting and supporting our troops by repairing and replacing critical military vehicles rather than purchasing additional helicopters for drug-cartel surveillance operations.

Fleming was not opposed to border patrol or border security. His position was that, at that moment, the higher priority was ensuring that American servicemen and women had the equipment they needed to stay safe and complete their mission.

Attempting to portray that vote as opposition to border security ignores the context of the vote and the explanation Fleming provided. The issue was priorities and spending, not opposition to securing America's borders.
