Today, we honor Juneteenth—a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity and opportunity for all.

At New Orleans Women & Children's Shelter, we recognize that true freedom extends beyond emancipation. It includes access to safe housing, economic stability, quality education, and the resources families need to thrive. Every day, we work alongside women and children as they build brighter futures and create new possibilities for themselves and their communities.

As we commemorate this important day, we reflect on our shared responsibility to foster a more just and equitable world where every family has the opportunity to live with dignity, security, and hope.

Our work goes far beyond meeting the immediate and pressing needs for food and safe shelter. Each year we serve hundreds of former participants via the Transition Assistance Program. This ongoing support (18+ months after leaving Shelter) is the key to stability and keeping families housed and independent.

It's been a week since with Greater New Orleans Foundation but we're still smiling ear to ear :) Thank you for making it possible for to meet our goal of funding 6 participant family rooms for a year.
