You don’t have to be in crisis to ask for help. 💙💛

New data from the Boys Town National Hotline shows more people are reaching out when suicidal thoughts first emerge — before reaching the point of immediate crisis.

Here in Louisiana, from January through July, the Hotline responded to 286 contacts, including 26 related to su***de, and served 114 youth.

These numbers are an important reminder that you don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable to reach out. A conversation, a listening ear, and the right support can make a difference.

💙 The Boys Town National Hotline is available 24/7.

Boys Town Louisiana Executive Director Rashain Carriere-Williams joined WVUE FOX 8 this week to talk about new data from the Boys Town National Hotline and the importance of reaching out when suicidal thoughts first emerge.

Rashain shared an important message for parents: Don't be afraid to have the conversation. Create a safe space, stay calm, listen without judgment, and be open to getting help.

If you notice changes in your child's behavior, start the conversation. There's no perfect script - what matters is letting them know they can talk to you and that support is available.

Boys Town National Hotline is available 24/7:

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, and supporting a child’s health is about so much more than a number on the scale.

A few simple ways to build healthier habits in your home:

🥗 Make healthy changes together as a family.
💛 Keep food neutral — avoid labeling foods “good” or “bad.”
🚲 Find movement kids enjoy — play counts!
😴 Prioritize good sleep for energy, mood and overall health.
📱 Set healthy screen-time boundaries.
🗣️ Keep body talk positive and avoid focusing on appearance.

Healthy habits don't have to be perfect - it's about helping kids feel healthy, confident, and supported! 💙💛
