Syntiche Eugene is a junior at Tulane, majoring in Legal Studies in Business with a certificate in Computer Science. As a Haitian-American from Louisiana, Syntiche is interested in exploring the environmental impact of development and innovation in underdeveloped areas. Through her research, she hopes to help contribute to policies maintaining environmental sustainability.

After graduation, Syntiche plans to continue her education in law school and pursue a career in legal and regulatory compliance.

In her free time, Syntiche enjoys building LEGOs, reading, and watching anime!

Yilan Tang is a senior at Tulane, majoring in Public Health and Economics and minoring in Math. With aspirations in health care policy, Yilan is interested in how water resources influence healthcare infrastructure and the administration of care. After graduation, she hopes to work in health policy and attend law school at some point. Outside of school, Yilan loves watching tennis, trying new restaurants, and spending time in Audubon Park.

Jimena Lantigua is a junior at Tulane University, majoring in Public Health and minoring in Healthcare Administration. Growing up between the Dominican Republic and New Orleans, Jimena is interested in how water resources impact human health globally. She is excited to learn more about the importance of policy in environmental protection and addressing health inequity. After graduation, she hopes to continue her education in public health and later work in healthcare administration. Outside of school, Jimena enjoys thrifting, traveling, journaling, and trying new restaurants!

Braylen Faussete is a sophomore at Tulane University, majoring in Earth and Environmental Science and minoring in Political Science in International Development. Braylen is from Long Island, New York, where she loves exploring coastal projects and restoration organizations. She has always been passionate about the relationship between the environment, policy, and advocacy, as well as sustainable practices. After graduation, she plans to attend law school and pursue a career in Environmental Law, where she can advocate for policies that protect vulnerable communities and safeguard natural resources for future generations.

Matt Allen, our newest senior research fellow, is originally from Colombia, so he’s obviously thrilled to be using his native language and knowledge of Latin America during his time with TIWRLP. He served in the Navy for eight years, and graduated from Old Dominion with a bachelor’s in political science while still on active duty. He then went to Texas A&M Law, where he was involved with environmental and natural resources research and clinical work. Matt is currently pursuing his LL.M in environmental, natural resources, and energy law at Lewis & Clark Law and hopes to continue pursuing opportunities in the the legal academic field.

Lilly Conner is a 3rd-year student at Tulane, majoring in Political Economy and Spanish. Lilly is from Indianapolis, Indiana, where she has been involved in local environmental organizations since she was 12! Lilly is passionate about how policy and legal interpretations impact how the government protects our environment and natural resources. She is excited to contribute to the unique and important research surrounding water in Louisiana. After graduating, Lilly plans to attend Law School, where she hopes to continue to engage with environmental policy and grassroots organizations.

Outside of academics, Lilly enjoys Audubon Park walks, doing yoga, and listening to music. She’s a very committed Chicago Bears fan and loves to watch with her friends and family!
