Our local Trail de Flores Chapter worked hand-in-hand with the National Park Service and the City of Floresville to create what have been called by NPS "mini exhibits" along the section of trail through Floresville. This is one example of the first four to be installed. They are a first (and prototype) for the entire National Trails System, and provide the trail user a snippet of history and a QR code to get more information. A real nice addition to El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail, especially for those who want to get more than a good sweat out of their trail experience!!

When you take the Mission to Rancho challenge, you are able to visualize your avatar making its way from Mission Espada to Rancho de las Cabras, about 31 miles along the historic El Camino Real. You will encounter nine milestones which provide information about historic sites along El Camino. The beauty of the challenge is the fact that you have until the end of the year to accomplish the 31 mile trek. Simply walk, hike, or bike wherever you wish and enter your mileage in the app. Upon completion, you’ll be awarded a medal and a t-shirt if you so choose.

Take the challenge and enjoy a little history along the way.

Complete this mission by traveling along the entire length of the trail between Mission Espada and..
