The City of New Orleans invites you to apply for the one-year AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) Program. The program supports City Hall by expanding the capacity of departments to fight poverty and provide better services to low-income individuals and communities. Katrina Babies explores the notion that all the children of New Orleans are not well, examining the effects of the trauma they experienced when the world stopped watching after Hurricane Katrina.

Edward Buckles, Jr. was just 13 when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and changed his home forever. His new documentary is his attempt to unpack the trauma of that childhood experience.

The New Orleans Police Department is hosting a Citizens Police Academy. It is an interactive learning experience that provides participants with an insider’s perspective on the NOPD and the criminal justice system.
The 2022 academy class is from August 13 to October 1. The 7-week program will take place on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at various NOPD facilities.
