We have some exciting news!! With the forecasted heat, the Buchanan Splash Pad will remain open for 2 additional weeks!!! If there are any changes to this planned extension, we will post updates. Bring the kids to cool off!!!

Wendell Berry, Henry County’s most famous son, has through his writing and life made the world aware of our rural heritage. He chose to farm here, to be a neighbor to us all, and to promote sustainable living throughout the entire world. The news of his passing brings sadness and a sense of true loss to so many near and far.

Those of us who knew him see the kind, humble, hardworking farmer who challenged us to always be better to others and to our land. Many others know him as the author of renown who lived a simple life in our county and shared his stories, poems, and essays in hundreds of publications. There is no doubt that his enduring and endearing legacy leaves us all better persons and our communities enriched by the example he set.

Today we offer his family our prayers for peace and comfort as they navigate life without this fine man. We are thankful for Wendell Berry and the blessings bestowed to and through a life so graciously lived.

Despite the very hot temps right now, the fall season is just around the corner with Trail and Treat before long!!! The Judge/Executive’s office truly appreciates all the amazing businesses and organizations who have participated in the past. We have begun reaching out to them, but may miss others who want to join the fun!!

GREAT NEWS — THE SPLASH PAD IS OPEN!!!

Regular hours of operation will resume which includes until 8 pm tonight!! A special shout out to Greg Hutcherson and Wes Mertz for taking care of the electrical problems and making this happen!!
