K-9 officers are part of the team, too! 🐾

Earlier today, NBFD firefighters assisted NBPD K-9 Sophie after she became overheated while on the job, providing IV fluids to help cool her down. We're proud to support our public safety partners, human and canine alike, and we're happy to report that Sophie is doing well.

With temperatures on the rise, remember that heat can affect both people and pets. Stay hydrated, take breaks from the heat when possible, and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.

Heavy rains have caused an increased flow of water in the Comal River, with the current river flow (as of this release) measuring over 500cfs, with poor water clarity and debris along the riverbanks and at the Tube Chute dam.

Therefore, effective immediately by order of the Chief of Police, access to the Comal River in New Braunfels for recreation is temporarily closed. City officials will reevaluate river conditions on Tuesday to determine when river recreation can resume.
