Gaining perspective. Life beyond a campaign can feel a lot less busy at times. “Daddy’s home” has meant “and staying home for the rest of the night” much more frequently than the past several months have played out. It is too easy to let the busyness of one season set the stage for the holiday season ahead. The days have flown and time speeds up, but countless moments have been captured like photographs tucked away in a shoebox. I’m beyond thankful for them. New friendships and memories fill each one.

I’ll be spending much of my energy pouring into these two huge blessings as they gain perspective of what it means to be a friendly neighbor daily and challenge my perspective on life just the same. I hope Thanksgiving and Christmas are blessings to all and a time to gain new perspectives.

40 Votes. About three weeks ago a trusted friend shared with me that 40 votes would likely take this race to victory. Well, flash forward three weeks to poll closing tonight: exactly 40 more flipped votes (78 spread) would have had it. Tight races can be difficult to swallow, but congratulations to the other candidate on a successful race.

A multitude of hours have been spent building new friendships with neighbors in District 5. These hours I don’t take lightly and appreciate the opportunity for more longstanding relationships in our community. Thank you to each of you for listening and speaking up!

I’m incredibly thankful for the enduring support of my incredible wife, Taylor Heinz!

I appreciate each of you who who have committed time, ideas, funds, energy, and resources to this campaign. You have encouraged me with each step to keep going. I’m grateful to now call so many of you friendly neighbors!

Before the polls even open, it seems like so much energy, time, and focus winds down to a 6pm deadline at the end of the day. However, my joy is that I began this race with the agenda of knowing my neighbors and serving my community. In some ways, it’s fail proof because I’ve met hundreds of neighbors. Real conversations, family connections, New Albanian history, current concerns and excitement alike. A first name basis with someone from almost every street in our district. What a blessing to feel this kind of friendship! It’s been a tremendous journey so far.

I humbly ask you to help me fulfill this mission as we continue with the most connected neighborhoods and district in New Albany- every vote matters in order to serve this community as your next councilman.

I can’t thank those of you for your ongoing support enough who have invested, shared, and encouraged me time again and again! It’s entirely humbling and honoring in the same moment. I feel like I would need to tag my entire page’s friend list and still miss several. I appreciate those who leaned in so early to share wisdom, time, energy, or financially. Thank you!
