Our charity accepts donations of highly-efficient materials & crafting supplies (cashmere, leather, fur, silk, artificial sinew, quality leather needles) & helps homeless people craft all-weather outdoor gear using traditional & original techniques. Founded by Cashmere for the Homeless's first (of hopefully many) highly-efficient gear crafters, Distance Everheart, this charity provides community m
embers the opportunity to help equip homeless people, traveling artists, & volunteers with extreme-quality, beautiful all-weather gear crafted using recycled, upcycled, gifted, & roadkill materials. Instead of providing homeless people with cottons, rayon, & heavy sleeping bags like many other (wonderful!) charities, something that makes Cashmere for the Homeless very unique is that it helps homeless people, people with mental disabilities, travelling artists, volunteers, & community members come together with a clear, mutually-beneficial plan to help take away common stigmatisms associated with being "residentially-disinclined. Many people who live outdoors are simply nature-lovers who don't wish to work for corporations that don't meet their ethical standards, & as Wild Willpower (our parent organization) helps to coordinate "foraging co-ops" to bring wild foods & herbs from national forests to farmer's markets, Cashmere for the Homeless helps gear people on these wildharvesting teams & others so that they may travel with ease & with less burden for life. Cashmere for the Homeless offers valuable skills, appreciation for where these animal-derived materials come from as we gather them in as respectfully as possible to those beings, & very valuable life skills to people who live outdoors, creating a more efficient, self-sufficient, culturally-intact United States of America who uses its resources wisely rather than frivolously!
