The public comments and concerns following the last blog are important, and they are exactly why we need to continue this conversation. The purpose of exploring this issue is not to justify a decision that has already been made, it is to gather the information we need to make the right decision for Naugatuck.

There is no data center project currently proposed, and no one has made up their mind. There is no predetermined outcome. If a proposal does emerge, it will have to meet firm environmental guardrails designed to prevent or minimize the impacts we are all concerned about, and there will be numerous opportunities for public review and comment.

I have great confidence in the people of Naugatuck. We can do something national politics too often cannot: listen to one another, put aside the noise, study the facts, and work toward the best solution for our community. We don’t have to be for or against something before we know what that something actually is.

If a data center, or any other major revenue opportunity, does not prove to be a good fit for Naugatuck, we will move on. We can expand our freight rail project, pursue other industrial opportunities, or develop a combination of uses that better serves the community.

What matters most is getting this right. This industrial park will be a cornerstone of Naugatuck’s financial future for the next 100 years. Decisions of that magnitude should not be driven by national headlines, fear, or promises of revenue alone. They should be driven by facts, environmental responsibility, economics, and what is best for Naugatuck.

Read the blog. Follow the future blogs. Ask questions. Challenge us. Stay involved.

There is no predetermined decision here. As a community, we will evaluate the options, weigh the facts, and decide together what is best for Naugatuck.

Two new community crests are set to join Naugatuck’s historic landscape in 2026. Created by artist and Naugatuck native Paul Munko and installed by Rocco Iadarola, the pieces will honor the Tuttle House and four landmark buildings by renowned architect Stanford White. Together, they celebrate the architecture, industry, and civic legacy that helped shape the borough we know today.

Take a closer look at the first of several custom-designed commemorative seals coming to the Borough of Naugatuck!

Designed by artist and brand expert Paul Munko, this public art series is being created in collaboration with the Borough of Naugatuck, the Mayor and Board of Burgesses, the Naugatuck Historical Society, and Rocco Iadarola.

Each installation highlights a unique piece of Naugatuck’s heritage, transforming local landmarks into lasting works of public art that celebrate not just our rich history, but the bright future we have ahead of us too.

Our community came together to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a series of truly meaningful ceremonies honoring our nation’s history and the generations who have served to protect it.

A heartfelt thank you to Mayor Pete Hess for his moving words, the Naugatuck Veterans Council, the Waterbury-Naugatuck VFW Post 201, the many volunteers, organizers, participants, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this day such a memorable success.

These moments remind us that our nation’s story is carried forward not only through history, but through the communities that continue to honor it.

Happy 250th Birthday, America. 🇺🇸
