"The driver will be responsible for the apparatus and pumps, ensuring that water is received and properly pumped to any deployed attack lines.
The driver will ensure he/she has a radio with collar mic and secured in a radio strap on the operations channel for direct communications with interior attack lines.
The driver should assist the crew with stretching the attack line from the rig to the entrance of the IDLH, ensuring that the bed is cleared and that the line is appropriately flaked and free of kinks from the entrance back to the pump panel.
When setting the pumps, the driver should first ensure that the primary attack line is charged prior to working with the supply line. After all attack and supply lines are established, the driver should monitor the area between the apparatus and the building for kinks, assisting with moving attack lines as necessary (remaining outside the IDLH).
Other appropriate tasks may be assisting with placement of ladders. The driver does not need to remain at the pump panel, but must remain in a proximity that allows the driver to monitor the status of the pump, and quickly return to the pump panel at any time necessary."
