It is with great sadness we mourn the loss of a wonderful human being. Our community cannot explain the deficit without her presence. Thank you so much Dorothy Mills for your dedication! You have left a huge mark on so many of us. We'll take it from here. Your passion and contribution will live on amongst us. 15 years shining your light upon us has been a blessing.

We had an unusual and busy day today. This morning started off with a bicyclist that struck a parked vehicle and needed medical attention. US-2 was busy and we were there to get the patient assessed and keep the scene safe until Luce County EMS was loaded and underway. This afternoon we assisted Hendricks Township Fire for a side-by-side that caught fire out near Sand Lake. Buggy was a total loss but no injuries. Mackinac County Sheriff beat us to both calls and we were glad to have them on scene.

It's getting pretty nasty out there. Roads are becoming a sheet of ice and the high winds are making it dangerous to be out and about if you don't need to be. Be sure to report any power outages or issues with lines and or trees. We have been giving and receiving daily updates with our 911 Agency for Mackinac County to make sure we have the resources in place that we may need. So far we've been fortunate and hopefully that doesn't change with this last wave of storms. Your committed members have been briefed and we are ready if the call comes out to do what we can. Everybody please stay safe! In the event of outages in our area we will be able to open up the town hall so you can get warm and charge whatever devices that need it with our backup generator. Big thank you to our dispatchers and Cloverland along with those follks at Emergency Management.

"The driver will be responsible for the apparatus and pumps, ensuring that water is received and properly pumped to any deployed attack lines.

The driver will ensure he/she has a radio with collar mic and secured in a radio strap on the operations channel for direct communications with interior attack lines.

The driver should assist the crew with stretching the attack line from the rig to the entrance of the IDLH, ensuring that the bed is cleared and that the line is appropriately flaked and free of kinks from the entrance back to the pump panel.

When setting the pumps, the driver should first ensure that the primary attack line is charged prior to working with the supply line. After all attack and supply lines are established, the driver should monitor the area between the apparatus and the building for kinks, assisting with moving attack lines as necessary (remaining outside the IDLH).

Other appropriate tasks may be assisting with placement of ladders. The driver does not need to remain at the pump panel, but must remain in a proximity that allows the driver to monitor the status of the pump, and quickly return to the pump panel at any time necessary."

Today we were called to honor a former Chief of our department Randy Cobe Sr. He dedicated decades of service to our community and was a huge part of making our department what it is today. He and his wife Darlene along with both of his sons joined and served the Department along with his daughter-in-law who is our current assistant chief. I believe that speaks volumes and we are forever grateful. Thank you very much sir. We'll take it from here.

We have had a couple of hard hits in our community for our responders recently. Tonight some of us joined for a debriefing session to help each other out with our Mental Health which is huge in dealing with the incidents we get subjected to. This job isn't easy. Even as volunteers we have to be professional and protect the privacy of the people we protect and represent. Huge thank you for the support given to us both by our community and those who spent time with us that was much needed. Often our dedication does not stop at the end of the call because we see some things that nobody else wants to and are forced to deal with it. Hats off to our responders and many prayers for those involved in terrible situations that we do not have control of.
