One of the most meaningful moments from our storytelling workshop came when a participant gave herself permission to pivot toward the story she was truly prepared to carry. It reminded me that strategic communication often begins with the courage to name what matters and move forward with purpose.

Insights posted on LinkedIn.

One of my most meaningful lessons came when Anna Grace Usery helped a participant change strategic direction. Mrs. Lisa entered the workshop curious about bringing strategic storytelling to her org. However, it became clear that a complex reporting structure and limited organizational alignment made...

"Education will save your life."

I don't believe there was a dry eye in the room as Linda Cliatt-Wayman, principal at a failing high school in North Philadelphia, shared her determination to change a building full of students and teachers into 'a school.'

Cliatt-Wayman is a product of the failing school system to which she returned. Under her leadership, things changed and the data showed the improvement.

I get it. So often, educators try to give what they did not receive.

Those gifts are not always understood in the moment. They are not always welcomed.

But when they land, they can change a room, a school and a life.

Education will save your life.

Watch Cliatt-Wayman's TED talk.

On Linda Cliatt-Wayman's first day as principal at a failing high school in North Philadelphia, she was determined to lay down the law. But she soon realized the job was more complex than she thought. With palpable passion, she shares the three principles that helped her turn around three schools la...

I shared a new reflection today on Musings from the Margins about teaching, learning and belief.

Working with students both in the classroom and through TEDxYouth has reminded me that confidence is not the same as readiness, and belief doesn’t come first. It comes after effort, pressure and persistence.

This post reflects on what teaching asks of students, and what it continues to ask of me.

If you teach, mentor, or walk alongside young people finding their voice, I hope this resonates.

💬 I’d love to hear your thoughts.

What does it mean to be a teacher? For me, teaching is the excitement of watching a student move from hesitation and fear to belief. Belief surfaces in the moment when they know they are capable.
