Happy Election Day!
Polls are open til 7 this evening. If you’re not sure where you vote, use this map or visit https://maps.nashville.gov/PollingPlaceFinder/
Following are the candidates I’m supporting:
Mayor:
Mayor John Cooper is not seeking a second term, so this open seat is being pursued by twelve candidates. I’m incredibly excited about the prospect of Freddie O'Connell for Mayor serving as our mayor the next four years.
Freddie has a deep understanding of Metro government’s role, its strengths, and areas that need immediate improvement. He’s smart, compassionate, and a hard worker. He has a neighborhood focus and will stand up for our city, highlighting a message of “More Ville, Less Vegas.” He’s being targeted by attack ads from the unscrupulous owner of downtown’s seediest tourist trap bars, and that speaks volumes.
I couldn’t be more thrilled to vote for Freddie and encourage you to join me!
Vice Mayor:
The vice mayor not only runs Council meetings but is responsible for providing training to Council members and leading the staff that assists members with constituent service, research, legislative guidance, and generally creates a competent Council.
Councilwoman Angie Henderson, who currently represents a sliver of Bellevue and areas including Forest Hills, Green Hills, and Warner Parks, is challenging incumbent Jim Shulman. Angie is thoughtful, thorough, principled, and will make much-needed changes to the way the Metro Council operates.
So many opportunities for more efficient and effective Council representation are being ignored, and I’m eager to see the positive impact Angie will make as vice mayor. Please join me in voting for her.
Council District 35:
In the race for the seat I’ve been honored to represent for the past eight years, Jason Spain for Metro Council is the easy choice as the only serious candidate. Even if the race had other candidates putting any effort, I’m confident Jason would be the guy. He’s a Bellevue native who is raising his family here and has a servant’s heart. We’ll be in good hands for the next four years with Jason’s leadership.
Council At-Large:
Five at-large Councilmembers represent the entire county and are elected by voters across the entire county. With four of my votes, I’m excited to support four experienced, selfless voices whose priorities and values frequently align with my own: Quin for Council, Arnold Hayes for Council At-Large, Delishia Porterfield, and Councilwoman Zulfat Suara. There are 21 at-large candidates on the ballot, and you can learn more about them here: https://www.nashvillescene.com/news/citylimits/at-large-candidates-a-deeper-look/article_ac78fe0c-1791-11ee-aec7-8318b9306131.html
