Food insecurity doesn't have a face.

It can look like your coworker, your friend, a classmate, or even someone you see every day and would never expect. Hunger doesn't discriminate, and it often hides in plain sight.

Right now, 1 in 7 neighbors across our 46-county service area in Middle and West Tennessee are facing food insecurity.

You can't always see who's struggling, but you can be part of the solution. Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is working every day to make sure no neighbor goes without.

Do you want a food bank tour?

Join us for a behind the scenes tour of our Martin Distribution Center in Nashville. Every first Monday of the month, we open our doors and invite you to walk the warehouse floor, meet our team, and see firsthand how food moves from donation to table.

You'll learn about our sorting and distribution process, see the scale of hunger relief in action, and discover just how far your support goes.

Our next tour is Monday, September 14th. Spots are limited, so reserve yours today at the link. https://bit.ly/3VlTyZm

Happy National Food Bank Day!

We celebrated by testing our staff's Second Harvest trivia knowledge, and it turns out nearly 50 years of history is a lot to remember. Since 1978, we've been rescuing food and connecting neighbors across Middle and West Tennessee to the food and resources they need to thrive.

Food banks like ours are often the first line of defense against hunger in a community, and on this National Food Bank Day, we want to thank the people who keep that system running: our staff, our volunteers, our supporters, and our 600+ Partners.

For neighbors facing food insecurity and chronic health conditions, access to nutritious food can mean the difference between managing an illness and struggling against it. Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee's Food is Medicine (FIM) program exists to close that gap, connecting neighbors with the food they need to protect their health.

One of our incredible partners in this work is Siloam Health, a Nashville based FIM partner site. Since launching this partnership in mid-May, Siloam Health has referred 29 neighbors to the FIM program, with 27 successfully enrolled, an outstanding 93% enrollment rate.

Partnerships like this show what's possible when food access and healthcare work together to meet neighbors where they are. Thank you, Siloam Health, for your continued commitment to the neighbors we serve.

The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation is teaming up with Feeding America once again to help our neighbors in need.

From September 1–30, simply round up your total or donate $1 or $3 at the register during checkout at your local Kroger. 100% of every donation stays local, supporting Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

Every dollar makes a difference, so donate today and help nourish a neighbor in your community.

It only takes one, one action, one hour, one dollar, one person. That’s the power of togetherness. That’s the Power of ONE.

Over 479,000 people in our 46-county service area live with food insecurity, and this September, we're asking you to make just one commitment to help end hunger in our community. Across Tennessee, 1 in 7 people faces food insecurity — and small actions add up to real change.
