Children's Defense Fund Nashville Team VISION: WE envision a world where all youth are healthy, free, and flourishing

CDF Nashville's vision with it's Cradle to Prison Pipeline campaign is to reduce detention and incarceration by increasing preventive supports and services children need, such as working on the entry point of the pipeline through Zero-Tolerance policies. Zero tolerance school discipline policies are a key feeder system into the pipeline to prison and play a significant role in fueling the dropout

crisis, which adds to the odds already stacked against children,

The Nashville team of the Children’s Defense Fund comprises staff and volunteers working to make a difference in the way we look at the Cradle to Prison Pipeline in this country. We are using a three-tier approach including primary voices, spiritual/theological implications, and community based organizing. Our collective experiences allow us to approach this work through a broader lens to reach people and challenge the popular notion of the criminalization of Black and Brown people.
