WriteOn! Journaling Re-Discovering what we already know! Wisdom through Journaling. I have spent a lifetime - Journaling my way through.

It started at age 7 with a locked 'dear diary', which over time has taken me into presenting workshops which offer Journaling as a invaluable life tool. I believe that wisdom is innately within all of us, and Journaling uncovers the layers of wisdom available in any transition, event, or day of each life. Journaling is an opportunity to discover what we already know. Getting to this deeper level o

f our intuition, subconscious, wisdom...whatever you want to call it, Journaling provides the compass to navigate through to the 'other side' of any situation and through life in general, as our truest, authentic, creative self. I envision a world in which people live authentically, which I feel will always reveal love, compassion, generosity, empathy and community. I believe we can get there - a world full of so many of people with these traits!

I know it may seem a bit wishful to think that the outcomes from Journal Writing are as much an anomaly as a unicorn and all, but the unbelievable effects it can produce are truly almost magical in a sense.

No rules, only enhancements!!

THE 5 JOURNALING "BEST-HAVES"
1) Prepare the space - calm, breathe, relax your body
2) Let the words flow...flow...flow...
3) Don't censor yourself when you write
4) 'Senseless' or repetitive writing, is ok
5) Make the connections when you're done

Was it just me, or is it standard that those of us who use our journals, are always buried in a book, trying to understand the world and our place in it, just a bit better?

If you've worked with or heard of Mirror Work, you likely are aware of how difficult it can be to look yourself in the eye and say, "I love you, I really, really love you".

Working through that discomfort, by using my Dialogue Partners Journaling Method, can reveal a path...

Whether we've just gotten in a fight with our partner, or our child, or a friend, sometimes remembering how much we love them, can be difficult to embrace.

Sometimes our own verbal self-abuse can make it difficult for us to remember how loveable WE actually are.

Starting first by working with statements that come to mind, through the 'Smart Questions' method, can support those with a very left-brain, linear way of approaching life. Then a Stream Of Consciousness that follows, after you find greater clarity, can solidify the underlying truths you know about yourself or others...filtering out the heat of the moment 'disdain' you may hold.

Writing out what comes, through my 'Stream Of Consciousness' method, can clear out the truth from the lies...bringing us to more easily remember love, for ourselves and others.

Awhile back, I met a gal who was really struggling with her relationship with her adult daughter. They had gone beyond just 'not clicking' and it had gotten massive, the divide between them. I heard her side, I heard her daughters.

I developed what I call 'The Walrus' method of Journaling. It walks a person (and in most cases BOTH persons involved) through a series of inquiries about another person, primarily one they're struggling to find resolve with.

Curiosity is a powerful tool. It is a catalyst of opportunity that often goes unused. The method is intense, and requires a willingness to shift your perspective. But it is incredibly powerful, if you're willing to take the journey OUT of the contention.

Royalty is most certainly NOT in my bloodline.

But I have learned to embrace my quirks and traits over the years, leaving me knowing better how my contribution to this shared experience of life, is as noteworthy as if I were a queen. I just happen to wear a unicorn horn over a golden crown...but no less of a needed contribution, in the order of things.

MUCH of my ability to ever get where I didn't condemn and despise my oddities, came from what I was able to work out and through, in my Journal Practice.

If you have ever felt unsure of your rightful place at the table...pick up a journal and begin making peace with your necessary role here.

I need to be vulnerable here with you...

I have struggled most of my life with depression. And situational depression, most severely.

Somewhere along the way, I learned the practice of what I call 'befriending my depression beast'. I found ways to be curious with it. To talk to it, through my journal. And a strange thing happened:

I found a way to embrace my depression, as a friend, not a foe...who brought me insight about myself, my life, my situation, that I didn't find on the 'easy/normal' days.

It entirely shifted the role that depression played in my life. It shifted the hold it had over me. It shifted the power it robbed of me, and the energy I gave fighting to keep it away.

I would never suggest that this is or could be the case for ALL depression, nor would I ever consider that Journaling could be a single solution to support those that are struggling with it.

But without hesitation, I entirely do believe that when we practice Journal Writing, we impact our perspectives. We learn better what is underlying of what is seen/experienced on the surface. We can bring shifts.

I even read recently, a woman who found the same to be true for her anxiety. It didn't remove it from her life, but Journaling most definitely shifted how she approached and experienced her Anxiety...to where SHE was steering the ship again.

My 'Journaling With ALL Senses' method, is a powerful, POWERFUL resource in doing such a thing.

OHHHH the opportunity for better working environment that seems impossible to achieve, would hold great value if it were. Perhaps a simple journal can bring such an opportunity?!

For those in management, journaling your 'review' of a person ahead of time through my 'Dialogue Partners' method, can help you be crystal clear on your what needs to be brought up and why.

When you have to work alongside that annoying know it all, you can find some grounding in WHO you are, and where the vague boundaries can be solidified, by journaling a few entries with my "Character Sketch" method I teach.

There are more...oh, so many more. Don't leave your workplace out of your Journal...it could actually hold the key answers you're in need of.

If I were to have to make a list, it would look like this:

1) your ALL TIME most favorite pen, one that 'feels' right when you right. Mine are .6 geltip. SPEND the money to make it feel magical when you write! Get on with the squishy finger rest, if it feels better!
2) A 'sacred' space you do your journaling practice...it makes a difference
3) A lined journal - I write downhill of there are no guides. You do you, but nothing worse than getting frustrated that your writing is turning downhill, and it can't be erased!
4) A daily, or weekly, or monthly, or even yearly focus. Having an intended outcome or purpose, creates a journaling practice that not only works, but doesn't feel stagnant or like a chore.
5) A routine. I like to write in AM with my morning coffee. Sometimes, I will jot down more in evening as I am getting ready to retire for the day. BUT always I journal in the AM...makes my day turn out differently than if when I haven't.
