Today NVFD Fire Fighter/EMR Rayn Galloway went and visited the special friends Anniston Academy. They learned about how fire fighters help the community and they learned that in an emergency they should ALWAYS go to a fire fighter, even when they might look or sound a little scary with their gear on.

🚨 A Day in the Life of an NVFD Firefighter: The Journey to Becoming an EMT! 🚨

Meet Firefighter Rayn Galloway, a dedicated member of our NVFD family who is taking her commitment to the next level! She's been hitting the road to Crossville, training with CCEMS EMT Training Program to enhance her skills as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and better serve our community.

💪 The Grind: Rayn commits 2-3 days per week for 3-4 months to intense EMT training, covering everything from medical assessments to emergency interventions. As part of her training, she'll complete 48 hours of hands-on practicals before tackling the National Exam—a crucial step in her journey.

🩺 This Week’s Challenge: Airway management! While NPA tubes (nasopharyngeal airways) are considered an advanced skill, every student practiced placing them to ensure they can safely assist AEMTs and paramedics in critical situations.

🔥 Why It Matters: While some of these skills go beyond her role as an EMR, Rayn’s determination means that when the tones drop, she’ll be ready for anything. Every new skill strengthens her ability to serve and protect her neighbors in their time of need.

If your church or community center is interested in participating in providing shelter during severe weather please take advantage of this opportunity.

Is your church interested in serving the community by serving as a safe place storm shelter through the Safe Places program?

There will be a meeting October 3, 2024 at 4 p.m. at the Center Grove Community Center (113 Seven K***s Rd.) with a representative for NewsChannel 5.

If your church is interested in participating in this program please have a representative attend this meeting!

Attached is a brief description of the Safe Places program for anyone who is not familiar with it. We believe this will be a great asset to our communities and county as a whole.

Yes!!! It's true Family Fun Day is still a go THIS SATURDAY!!! After having some family fun at "Poke" bring the littles and come on over to the Nameless Volunteer Fire Department to enjoy FREE, yes FREE, hotdogs, drinks and fun for the kids!!!

We'll have the trucks out so they can blow the horn and sit in the seat. Try your hand at a round of corn Hole or grab a seat and shoot the breeze in the shade.

We will draw for our fundraiser and chances are still available, see a firefighter or stop by the table that day.

Tonight was an emotional and trying night for our department. No one ever wants to get the call that one of their own is effected by structure fire, let alone your chief. Thank God for his keen awareness, as he caught this fire early on. Thank you to all the departments who stepped in and stepped up to bare his burden during this moment. We know this could have been much worse and the know the good Lord was watching out tonight.
