An emergency struck and left us with an extra dozen eggs from our poultry kits - instead of changing the purpose of them, we pulled out our extra incubator and took to incubating them in the office!

Chickens take 21 days to hatch - and we’re a week in. So 14 days remain before we’ll start seeing little chicks! Follow along as we share updates - including candling in a few days!

On June 5th and 6th, Jackson County Ag in the Classroom hosted its Summer Ag Institute, bringing together 22 enthusiastic educators for two days of learning, inspiration, and hands-on experiences. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from a variety of outstanding guest speakers and tour agricultural sites, gaining valuable resources and practical ideas to bring agriculture to life in their classrooms. It was an enriching event filled with collaboration, discovery, and a shared passion for agricultural education!

This spring, Jackson County Ag in the Classroom awarded 13 poultry kit grants, allowing students across the county to experience the incredible process of incubating and hatching chicks right in their classrooms! It was an unforgettable learning opportunity for all involved. A special thanks to the dedicated teachers who applied for the grants and to the Jackson County Farm Bureau Board for their ongoing support of these valuable educational experiences!
