Sallie Logan Public Library Sallie Logan Public Library is a community and social center that welcomes and supports all people in their freedom to read, learn, and discover. ft.

The library listens, understands, and transforms patron needs into library services and programs. The Public Library in Murphysboro was established in 1925 as a project of the Murphysboro Woman’s Club. At her death in 1936, Sarah “Sallie” Oliver Logan, wife of Thomas Logan and sister-in-law of General John A. Logan, bequeathed to the City of Murphysboro her brick residence located at 1808 Walnut a

nd four lots. The gift was accepted by the city and the Sallie Logan Public Library opened at this location in 1938. Sallie’s home served as the city library until the mid 1970s. The current 9,851 sq. building was dedicated on December 15, 1975.

Come see Stephanie and Jaxson from the Illinois State Treasurer's Office for a reading of The Berenstain Bear's Dollars and Sense! They'll also have a fun activity for the kids.

We’re continuing our camp to teach teens and young adults how to structure, plot, and write their very own novel!

The camp focuses on crafting compelling characters, designing a believable world, and using the Save the Cat! beat sheet to craft a plot like a pro!

The Writers Camp will meet every last Friday from May through July at 3:00PM.

All supplies will be provided.
