Alger County DARE

What a week! I had 3 DARE graduations. Monday was AuTrain-Onota School. Thursday it was Burt Twp School. Today was Munising Elementary School. Thank you for the parents that came to support their kid. A huge thank you to Pats Foods for donating cake, water, utensils, napkins and plates. Also a huge thank you to Knights of Columbus for making a donation to help buy graduation gifts and classroom supplies!

I haven’t posted many pictures lately, but DARE is still going strong in Alger County this year. I was able to teach out in Superior Central and they graduated before Christmas break. When school came back from the nice long break I started to teach in the following school and currently in:
Munising Elementary School 5th grade
AuTrain-Onota School 3-5th grade
Baptist School 3-5th grade
Burt Twp School 3-5th grade

It’s been a busy few month of 2025. Soon to come pictures of graduations of the above schools.

All set and ready to go for 5th and 6th grade DARE Graduation out at Superior Central.

Thanks to the Knights of Columbus donation, DARE donated some backpacks to Superior Central to distribute to deserving kids.

Last week the 6th grade out in Superior Central was able to act out ways to Leave a situation. We finished up the 4 REAL stragies. Refuse, Explain,Avoid and Leave. They always enjoy acting out scenarios.

Little late. But wanted to say thank you to Knights of Columbus in Munising. With their donation was able to purchase trick or treat bags with a few items inside. DARE color changing pencil, glow stick, sticker and an eraser. Was able to deliver the bags to Superior Central, Burt Twp and AuTrain-Onota schools.

Lesson 2 today out at Superior Central. Last week was just an introduction. This week we dive into the lessons. Excited to start DARE again.

Since school has been out for a little while. It has calmed down for me. So I’m going to take this opportunity to thank Knights of Columbus to making a generous donation to the Alger County DARE program. It was toward the end of the school year but with there donation I will be able buy more supplies for the DARE kids for years to come.
