Tomorrow night I will be attending this nonpartisan WILSON COUNTY UNITED event. I’m excited to hear from the speakers about further action we can take to stop ICE from building this detention facility.

Continue putting pressure on local officials to oppose this facility!

Opposed to DHS bringing an ICE detention center to our community? Do you feel helpless? Not sure what you can do to fight it?

We cannot rely solely on elected officials at any level or any side of the aisle to fight this. They've clearly been left out of the loop... intentionally? To give them cover for what's to come, so they can throw their hands up in defeat and say, The Feds did this! Nothing we could do! We had no say!

Enough is enough!

We are still America. It's the epitome of American patriotism to voice your opinion, to shout it out when you know something is wrong, to demand accountability from our government.

Join us for a community gathering where experienced organizers will discuss strategies for how we can take action to stop Wilson County from becoming the next ground-zero for civil rights abuses and illegal detentions.

We ARE the boss of them, and we CAN hold their feet to the fire!

There were folks making it sound like we were being alarmists, there were folks telling us we didnt have enough information, there were folks coming up with alternate theories to make it seem like we had bad information, but here it is plain and simple. This IS in the works and we need to continue to speak up to make sure it doesnt come to fruition.

Citizens of Lebanon:

Yesterday, I spoke with Senior Counsel for the Department of Homeland Security. He confirmed Immigration and Customs Enforcement is interested in property along the Highway 109 South Corridor inside the City Limits of Lebanon. They are in the due diligence phase of a feasibility study. They have not contacted anyone with the City of Lebanon Utilities or Engineering Departments.

This morning, I spoke with US Senator Marsha Blackburn. She is working with us along with leaders of the Department of Homeland Security to rectify this situation. She too believes that the City of Lebanon is not the right location for this facility.

As a conservative Republican, I believe we should have a secure border. However, other than the Wilson County Jail, Lebanon, Tennessee is not the place for any type of correctional facility - ICE or otherwise.

Feeling really inspired right now to see so many diverse and beautiful faces coming together to have their voices heard in opposition to the potential ICE detention facility being built in Lebanon.

Not only am I feeling more connected to my community because of the smart, passionate and empathetic cohort of candidates I have the pleasure of having by my side, but seeing such a vast spectrum of people, young and old, of every ethnicity, size, and shape, come out to take a stand for our values was truly humbling.
