I REMEBER putting in 3 applications for Virtua. Newly sober ( " clean") two kids , no help
: desperate for this job . Each time no response , after 3 rd app, Justice discharged from hosp after asthma admission. ( less than a year old). I grabbed my resume ( creatively done ) and marched into human resources and asked to speak to CEO at Virtua. After much determination : I was granted my
" meeting"
CHET invited me into his office , shook my hand and asked how he could help
Me. I handed him my resume : explained I had applied 3 times. I was MORE than qualified. Hadn't heard ANYTHING. Then without skipping a beat, I informed him that my youngest son had been in and out of this hospital multiple times since birth : and in fact - I owed Virtua a great deal of money
, we were uninsured. I reasoned that if I was offered job- I
Could then start paying the wonderful hospital back. He looked at me : shook
His head , took
Resume and told me I would hear something in a week. The rest is HISTORY. Started part time nights. ( hard as hell
, but DID it ) eventually made full
Time day status WITH MEDICAL BENEFITS !!!!! For the longest -my manager and I butted heads. But : little by little I climbed up
Invisible ladder ( all my guys, exchange students and foster children hanging on my back !!!). Took advantage of free cert courses- and to my greatest gift, one month before that same manager was laid off : she offered me promotion of lifetime!!!! And I enjoyed that position for MANY years until
My layoff. Make the most of YOUR LIFE. Think outside the box. Some of your greatest days are waitng. May God bless our footpath
