Summer is here. For families experiencing housing instability, it doesn't mean a break.

Across our five-county service area, people are navigating job loss, eviction, and a rental market that isn't getting easier. Our Regional Access Point call volume has doubled in recent months, and our teams are working to meet that demand with limited resources.

Your summer donation helps us stay ready. Whether it's covering a motel voucher for a family in crisis or funding case management for a resident working toward self-sufficiency, every gift keeps our doors open.

Give today at sojournersalliance.org/ or text SOJOURNERS to 269-89.

Sojourners' Alliance was founded on Christmas Eve 1991, when our doors opened to welcome the first people in need of shelter.

More than 30 years later, we're still here. Through a devastating fire in 2018. Through the loss of federal funding. Through three executive directors and a global pandemic. We kept serving.

Our current Executive Director, Dr. Casey Bolt, brings an economics background to the work: using data to make the case for housing, advocating for systemic change, and leading an organization that refuses to stop opening doors.

This is what 30 years of community investment looks like. And it keeps going because of people like you.

Something you might not know about Sojourners' Alliance: our success is invisible by design.

When we do our job well, people are housed and the crisis that brought them to us is over. You don't see them sleeping in doorways or cars, because they're in apartments and transitional housing and permanent supportive housing.

As our board member Dale Gentry put it: ""All the people that we keep off the streets here in Moscow are not visible to the public. It's good work, but it's not noticeable work.""

Your support makes the invisible possible. Thank you for believing in work you rarely see.

Two-thirds of Sojourners' Alliance funding comes from government grants. Most of those grants don't cover staff salaries.

That means every unrestricted donation we receive, the kind that can go where the need is greatest, directly supports the people who do this work: our case managers, our housing coordinators, our staff who answer the Regional Access Point line for five Idaho counties.

When you give to Sojourners' Alliance, you're not just funding programs. You're funding the people who make those programs work.

The Palouse housing market is making homelessness harder to escape.

Moscow and Pullman consistently rank among the most expensive rental markets in Idaho relative to local wages. Low vacancy rates mean even people with stable income struggle to find housing. For our clients, those challenges are compounded by criminal records, disabilities, or lack of rental history.

This is the environment Sojourners' Alliance works in every day. We don't just provide shelter. We advocate for policy change, work with landlords, and make the case that housing is a worthwhile community investment.

Idaho Gives wrapped up this week, and the Palouse showed up.

We are deeply grateful for every person who donated, shared our campaign, and helped spread the word. This community responds when the story is told, and you told it loudly.

We'll be sharing final results soon. But before the numbers, we want to say this: behind every dollar is a person who believed someone deserving shelter should have it. That belief is what drives us forward every single day.

Thank you from everyone at Sojourners' Alliance.

You opened doors.

Matching gifts are LIVE for Idaho Gives. Every dollar you give today goes twice as far.

This is the moment. Local businesses have committed matching funds for today's Idaho Gives campaign, which means your gift to Sojourners' Alliance has double the impact.

Today is Idaho Gives Day, and you have the power to make a real difference.

Sojourners' Alliance is one of the only organizations in our region providing shelter, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing under one roof, with one mission: opening doors for those in need.

On any given night, 40 or more people have a safe place to sleep because of Sojourners' Alliance.

Since 1991, we've been the only long-term homeless shelter on the Palouse, serving five Idaho counties from Moscow to Lewiston. We house people others turn away: those with criminal records, disabilities, financial collapse, and nowhere else to go.

Homelessness in rural Idaho is invisible. People in our community sleep in motels, cars, and rural corners far from public view. When you don't see it, it's easy to forget it's real. But our neighbors are experiencing it right now.
