Good evening! Please be aware of the weather to the west coming in. For those of you new to Morrisville or could use a refresher, this video has some important considerations about the FEMA shelter at the school you need to be aware of.

I'm hopefully going to get a bit of sleep before these storms get here but I'll be up once they approach Dade county to keep an eye on the conditions.

Stay safe and have a great evening!

Big news for Morrisville! It is likely a first in our town's history—and I doubt many other cities have ever experienced this either.

For the first time in over four years since since our City Clerk, Patty, began working for us, she reported that every single utility bill was paid in full before the new ones were sent out. There were ZERO DISCONNECTS this month!

I want to extend a huge thank you to Patty for her diligent work, and a sincere thank you to all our residents. This success reflects our commitment to maintaining clear, written procedures that ensure everyone is treated fairly. We truly appreciate you all doing your part to keep our city running right!

***URGENT*** Due to a drop in pressure within the water system, water customers within the City of Morrisville are under a voluntary boil advisory until further notice. Pressure has since been restored. Thanks for understanding.

We dodged a twister tonight and about 100 of us met up at the FEMA shelter to ride out the storm. Last time I saw a wall cloud in town that clear was probably 18 years ago.

Thank you to Kody Mayhew for sharing the picture of the wall cloud. Alderman Michelle Crawford gets credit for the other pictures.

Special shout out to Rick J Davis with Polk County emergency management and Polk County 911 for the communications and working to send help if we needed it.

We also can't forget the Marion C. Early school District forgetting the grant and voters approving the construction of the FEMA shelter. I believe it has been in operation for about 11 years now and it has been a blessing for us.

Stay safe and try to get some rest before the next one gets here in a couple hours.

Polk County Emergency Management will be conducting a storm siren test at 10 am.

📢 Update from the Capitol: Fighting for Morrisville’s Future

I’ve just finished testifying before the Missouri Senate Committee on Commerce to stand up for our town against Senate Bill 1065. As your Mayor, I felt it was vital to ensure our community's voice was heard in Jefferson City.

The "Cumulative Fiscal Squeeze"
Our city operates on a modest budget of around $380,000. Between this bill and other state proposals—like the one to eliminate sales tax on food, which could cost us $30,000 annually—small towns like ours are facing a compounding financial burden. We simply cannot afford to subsidize for-profit corporations while trying to maintain our core services: streets, sidewalks, law enforcement, and water/sewer.

What’s at Stake for Morrisville?

The Water Line Project: We are finally breaking ground on our USDA-funded project to replace old cast-iron water lines. This project is the culmination of years of work, and SB 1065 could add unforeseen costs that would fall squarely on our local taxpayers.

Safer Streets & Sidewalks: We have families who must walk along Highway 215 just to get to the store because of our crumbling or non-existent sidewalks. My goal has always been to pave our streets and replace these sidewalks, but requiring the city to pay for utility relocation would effectively kill these critical safety projects before they even start.

Unfair Partnerships: Non-regulated utility companies currently use our public right-of-way for free. They often don't provide fiber optic internet to our residents or schools, yet this bill would force you to pay for their equipment moves.

The Path Forward

I proposed several solutions to the committee, including exempting small cities under 1,500 residents and requiring these companies to pay for the privilege of using our public land.

I’m now heading back to Morrisville to continue the work you elected me to do. Thank you for your support as we advocate for a safer, more sustainable future for our community!

I met the state auditor this morning. His presentation for us had the most simple logic I've ever heard.

Advocacy at the Capitol 🏛️

Reporting from Jefferson City! As Mayor of Morrisville and an MML board member, I’m at the legislative conference ensuring our community's voice is heard at the state level.

I had productive meetings with Rep. Chris Warwick and Sen. Sandy Crawford regarding tax reform and the "no sales tax on food" bill I testified against last week. While tax cuts are a popular topic, we must protect the local funding that keeps our infrastructure and safety services running.

Local results require local resources. The most efficient path forward is resource consolidation—working together to share equipment and services across entities instead of duplicating costs. Getting everyone on board with that is a challenge, but it's how we truly maximize every taxpayer dollar.

Tomorrow, the State AG and State Auditor are speaking. I’m hoping for a photo—the Auditor and I have plenty to catch up on after all my outreach last year! 😂📸
