Restoring Frank Lloyd Wright’s James B. Christie House, 7pm tonight

Frank Lloyd Wright was a renowned and influential architect, considered the “greatest American architect of all time” by the American Institute of Architects. Over a career spanning seven decades, he designed over 1,000 buildings. In all, 523 of these were built, including the iconic Guggenheim Museum, the Fallingwater house, Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel, and a home right here in Bernardsville, NJ. Known as the Christie House, the Usonian Home is one of three remaining Wright-designed houses in New Jersey.

In this presentation architect Genevieve Castelino will share her experiences over the past three years lovingly restoring, with Kiran Merchant, this unique home built during the most innovative and prolific period of Wright’s career. Genevieve Castelino’s passion for Wright’s design philosophy of organic architecture began in the 1980s while studying architecture in Mumbai, India. In addition to being an architect, Genevieve is an artist and storyteller at heart, embracing diverse mediums to share ideas and stories that influence, inspire, and move her. As an architect, she co-founded with Kiran Merchant, Merchant Aviation, an aviation planning company that designs airports around the world. As storytellers, Castelino and Merchant, have co-produced award-winning films and plays.

This event will take place in the lower level Meeting Room.

Join us at 3:30 this afternoon for a conversation with author Juanita Kirton whose poetry collection “Letters to my Father” was recently published. The poems are brave and courageous and are found in tight spaces of kitchens, a church and a child’s heart. She breaks the barriers of silence and holds her own, turning the silence of despair into the found voice of a female spiritual warrior.

This program is co-sponsored by Women Who Write, Inc. For more information please email [email protected] or visit www.womenwhowrite.org

This event will take place in the Lower Level Meeting Room.

Stop by the Library today from 2-3 pm for the Silent Book Club. What is that? The Silent Book Club is a unique gathering for book enthusiasts seeking a quiet communal reading experience. Unlike traditional book clubs, participants choose their own reading material and come together in a shared space to read silently. The emphasis is on personal reading enjoyment without the pressure of structured discussions. It provides a social yet introspective setting while fostering a sense of community among readers. Think of it as a Happy Hour for introverts! All are welcome.
