Neighborhood Security Alert
We received a security alert from a nearby business and wanted to share it with our neighbors.

Over the past several weeks, the business reports that security cameras have captured a group of approximately 4–6 individuals in the area between 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. on multiple nights. They have reportedly been seen along Julia Street, South Hull Street, South Lawrence Street, and South McDonough Street checking doors and attempting to access commercial buildings.

This information is being shared to encourage everyone to be extra vigilant:
🔒 Lock your homes, vehicles, and outbuildings.
💡 Turn on exterior lighting if possible.
📹 Check your security cameras if you notice suspicious activity.
📞 Report suspicious or criminal activity to the Montgomery Police Department.

Separately, drivers should also use caution near South Hull Street and Julia Street after dark. A pedestrian has reportedly entered traffic unexpectedly on multiple occasions, creating a potential safety hazard for motorists and pedestrians alike.

If you've observed similar suspicious activity, please report it to law enforcement.

🌿🏡 GDPA June 2026 Yard of the Month 🏡🌿

Congratulations to Nancy Dowdle and Carey Cauthen of Gilmer Avenue, recipients of the Garden District Preservation Association's June Yard of the Month!

Their beautiful home was built in the 1920s by noted builder Algernon Blair and carries a unique piece of literary history. From 1976 until she died in 1986, the home was owned by Frances Scott Fitzgerald ("Scottie"), daughter of famed author F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Fitzgerald. During her ownership, Scottie undertook renovations that helped shape the home we see today.

The property was purchased in 1986 and have lovingly cared for it ever since. The wide, elegant landscape—designed by Nancy herself—is a standout feature of the property. One of its treasures is a magnificent camellia, estimated to be more than 50 years old, that produces beautiful blooms from November through January each year.

Photos don't fully capture the breadth and beauty of this yard, so we encourage you to take a stroll down Gilmer Avenue and admire it in person. Thank you, Nancy and Carey, for helping make the Garden District such a special place to call home!
