Between the Skykomish River and several nearby lakes, Monroe is an ideal hub for wakeboarding, kayaking, boating, dipping, floating, and rafting. Long summer days invite you onto and into the water, whether you’re carving across glassy morning surfaces or drifting lazily in the afternoon sun. Surrounded by the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, the setting adds a scenic backdrop of forests and distant peaks. There’s no better way to beat the heat than by cooling off here, where adventure and relaxation meet on the shorelines of summer.

“Check in” at Al Borlin Park

Know the difference. 🤔 Al Borlin Park is the largest Monroe park, and one of the oldest. The park occupies a peninsula formed by the Skykomish River and Woods Creek. Besides its 1.2 mile network of forested walking trails, it offers barbecues, picnic benches, and riverfront access for dipping or swimming.

To recap: Al Borland is the guy from “Home Improvement.” Al Borlin is the place you definitely want to go this summer. It’s time to experience nature in Monroe, Washington.

Good news, bad news. If you like spending time in the North Cascades when it's a bit quiet, you can access Liberty Bell Mountain and the Washington Pass Overlook from the East on Highway 20, but the bad news is the pass is not open at this time. That being said, they predict to have it open to car traffic by June 25th! That's when it will start to get busy ... so plan your visit and enjoy the calming beauty of the North Cascades Highway and North Cascades National Park Service Complex now! Our Cascade Loop partners would love to see you 😎
