The nonprofit Friends of San Damiano was organized with a mission to help transform this unique 10-acre lakeside public space — for recreation, education, and peaceful reflection. Friends of San Damiano is a 501(c)3 with a mission to advance the San Damiano property as a place for public recreation, interpretive programming, and peaceful reflection. isconsin State Capitol and a peaceful, natural expanse unlike any other in the area. San Damiano is viewed as a regional asset for Dane County and beyond, and visitors will have the opportunity to utilize and cherish this space for generations to come. Have you seen the sculptures in their new placement?

Luckily for us, several of the sculptures from this year's Harry Whitehorse International Wood Sculpture Festival are staying onsite, to cure, through May 2027.

On your next visit or trip down Monona Drive, enjoy these incredible sculptures along the driveway as you enter the property... They are sure to change your day.

Behold, the beautiful Bean Cathedral®! 🌱 (ALSO WHY WON'T THE PEAPOD OR BEAN EMOJIS WORK???)

Our green-thumbed volunteers have been hard at work cultivating this beauty, which currently boasts several bean varietals, including Frijol Rojo De Seda (Red Silk Beans) on the left, which have beautiful pink pods. Further in are Cherokee Trail of Tears beans, which have pods that are a dark purple. This beautiful bean rainbow is yours for the taking (...in with your eyes), until the pods are ready to harvest! (In the meantime, please, do not pick. 🚫)
