Are you passionate about sustainability? How about the opportunity to make a difference in your community? Missoula County is hiring a Climate Action Program Coordinator!

If you have strong project management and communication skills, as well as an interest in clean electricity, building decarbonization or community resiliency, this position is for you! Missoula County is looking for a motivated and creative individual who is ready to jump into a series of exciting sustainability projects at the local government level. The position is open until filled, though application review will begin on Monday, June 5.

Come join us, Families for a Livable Climate, Free Cycles Missoula, and Soil Cycle for our 2nd annual Climate Protector Ride on September 17th!

The Climate Protector Ride is a community bike ride from Silver Park to the Climate and Clean Energy Expo at Caras Park. Meet us at the Silver Park shelter at 10am with your superhero capes, bright costumes, and banners to help us promote biking as a climate solution, showcase our collective commitment toward building a livable future for all, and HAVE FUN!

The bike ride is family friendly and will take place entirely on a protected bike lane - all abilities and speeds are welcome!

Participants will receive a small gift package with a free ice cream cone coupon from Big Dipper, a climate protector sticker, and a climate action guide, and will be entered to win a free 6-month compost drop-off membership with Soil Cycle. Register here.

Caroline Bean and Andrew Valainis, both with the county's Climate Action Program, said the bill's focus on energy efficiency, energy production, job creation, tax credits and clean power will be a game changer in helping the city and county move closer to their goal of 100% clean electricity.

We're excited to work with the new carbon neutrality team to reduce our county government’s contribution to climate change!

On Tuesday, commissioners signed off on the formation of a carbon neutrality team to help guide Missoula County toward its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035, and begin reducing its carbon footprint on a large scale.
