Today, members of the Jasper County Emergency Response Team (JCERT) participated in Search and Rescue field operations training designed to certify new members and refresh the skills of current personnel.
Training topics included radio communications, SAR technology, K9 operations, multi-agency coordination, sign cutting and tracking techniques, compass use, gear selection and readiness, pace count, land navigation challenges, route and clue marking, search timing and effectiveness, and the review of real-world case studies.
Members applied these skills through practical field exercises focused on improving communication, navigation, situational awareness, teamwork, and operational effectiveness during search and rescue missions. The training provided valuable experience for both new and seasoned members while reinforcing the fundamentals necessary for successful field operations.
