Minneapolis Afterschool Network The Minneapolis Afterschool Network is a collaboration of public and community youth serving organizations dedicated to quality afterschool for ALL.

Research shows that Minneapolis youth violence spikes between 3-6pm. Afterschool programs help reduce the risk of youth engaging in these activities. A CASEL 2010 meta-analysis of afterschool program evaluations found students made significant improvements in their perceptions of themselves, improved positive social behavior, and a decrease in problem behaviors. We need more afterschool programs in our community to support the social emotional learning skills of our young people. Contact your leaders to support the Minneapolis Youth Fund!

Did you know only 67% of MPS students graduate in 4 years? According to teachers, 66% of students participating in the 21st CCLC afterschool programs improved their academic performance. We need more afterschool programs in our community to help increase graduation rates. Support the Minneapolis Youth Fund!

Did you know federally funded programs serve only 13% of youth ages 5 to 18 in Minneapolis? Only 1 in 3 requests for federal 21st Century Community Learning Center funding is awarded. Federal funding isn’t the only revenue stream needed to support afterschool programming. A stable local funding stream is essential to support access and provide quality programs.

On June 23, 2017 Minneapolis Youth Coordinating Board's Minneapolis Afterschool Network and the City of Minneapolis Health Department held its second youth summit of the year at the Minnesota Indian Women's Resource Center. The Minneapolis Youth Worker Summit Summer Session focused on youth and the importance of making sure youth work professionals kind a balance in reaching their work goals and while aid youth issues.

There was also a panel of youth participants and organizing practitioners from Minneapolis Youth Congress (John Hall), Youth Farm, Plymouth Christian Youth Cntr, STEP-UP Youth Employment Program, City of Minneapolis, and the Minneapolis School Based Clinic’s Youth Council whom all shared their thoughts on the best practices in youth engagement.
