We all need a little rest sometimes, the helpers we look to support now are some who out the needs of the community above even their own rest so we are moving towards covering the entirety of the second need by $205!

What was originally a $1500 support need, the amount was reduced down to $1200 based on the required coverage. Adjustments will always be made when this happens, a goal might change for what ever reason, this time it got knocked down a bit and we always welcome that!

The goal is to wipe this support need off the board today so we can move in to the next this coming weekend, get back up on our content, ready for midterms, and more.

We have a midday update!

As of noon today we are resting at $402 of our second Helper need. We started this particular support goal of $1500 but in order to cover the immediately urgent need we are focusing on half of that right now.

That puts us $348 away from relieving this huge stressor from this families shoulders.

On this Mother's Day we are launching the first "Help the Helpers" Support Initiative.

What is a Helper?
A Helper is someone who shows up. A person who puts the needs of those aorund them to a priority in order to see the progession of the community to a place of prosperity. We see Helpers every day in our nurses, social workers, teachers, care givers, advocates, planners, the professionals donating time and skill to support others, the organizers, the moms who do all they can to show their children that better is possible.

Our team is made of moms.
Of Helpers.

The "Help The Helpers" Support Initiative began when we saw how much the Helpers did alone while still helping those around them. We have moms who are struggling with loss of a family member, divorce, domestic issues, wage loss, victim to a criminal act that leaves a mess in the aftermath, and we have women who do everything they can to never ask for help. That is where we come in. That is where the community comes in. We step in the help those who need it but don't ask. We step in to help the women, the mothers, the helpers who are burned out but still trying to make it all work.

With this support initiative we will help these moms find a sense of stability in their lives, something they need and cannot do on their own.

The milestones of this campaign are marked by their inidividual need. We do not have a final total but the singular pieces that would help these women breathe.

As we hit the ground running the first four are as follows:

1. $700 for past due utilities
2. $1500 for a vehicle after a theft
3. $430 vehicle repairs
4. $800 for vehicle repairs and tires

These are needs that these woman put off. They used their own money, their cars, their homes, and their skills to create safe spaces for the communal good. Delivery groceries during the occupation, storing items for schools in their garages, collecting blankets for encampments, paying fees and fines for others, showing up over and over to ensure their neighbors, that other women, knew they were not alone.

We are stepping in to do that now.
Members of our own team are on our list. We will do something we have never done and shove a few of our own out front to say "this woman needs help and we are giving it even if she didn't ask and is mad at us for it!" because sometimes the helpers are stubborn as hell and need to be hugged, need to be told that they aren't alone and it will be ok. You might be a helper yourself. You might despise the act of vulnerability that it takes to admit you need help. We know that well!

It is admirable to say "I will do it myself" but in reality no one should live that way. You should not have to do this alone. Walk this world, fight the evils, undo the wrongs, and find the light by yourself. That is why community exists.

This Mothers Day we are telling the Helpers that its their turn to know what support feels like. Help us Helper The Helpers.
