County Executive David Crowley David Crowley is the Milwaukee County Executive. Growing up in a working-class family in Milwaukee’s 53206 neighborhood, David was no stranger to hardship.

As a lifelong Milwaukee resident, County Executive David Crowley knows as well as anyone that Milwaukee County is truly a tale of two counties. He has lived the pain and struggle that many in our communities face every day, and he knows the joy of bringing people together to conquer those struggles. The fundamental tenet of Executive Crowley’s administration is to build bridges to bring people tog

ether, not walls that keep them apart. As a child, David’s family moved around frequently, often as a result of evictions. He lived in a home with multiple family members who suffered from mental illness and drug addiction, and saw first-hand the impact that these issues have on our community. This is personal to David. David credits the Milwaukee youth organization Urban Underground for saving his life. He found a support network and a community of people that cared about him, and helped guide him to public service. While still in high school, David served as a community justice coordinator with Urban Underground, giving him his start in community organizing. He joined AmeriCorps when he turned 18, and worked with several other community organizations including Project Return, Safe & Sound Inc., and COA Youth and Family Centers. David also worked as a legislative aide for the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors and the Wisconsin State Senate. David was motivated by the public servants around him to forge his own path in elected service, and was chosen by the 60,000 citizens of the 17th Assembly District to represent them in the Wisconsin State Legislature in Madison. In two terms in the Assembly, David sat on the Energy and Utilities, State Affairs, Workforce Development and Transportation committees and was the ranking member on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. He served as the chair of the Milwaukee Delegation, the chair of the Black Caucus, and the co-chair of the Black and Latino Caucus. He also served on the Boards of Directors of both the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) and the Outreach Community Health Centers (OCHC). David is a member of numerous community organizations including the ACLU, Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals and the Milwaukee NAACP. He attended Bay View High School, UW-Milwaukee and currently lives in Milwaukee with his wife, Ericka, and his three young daughters. He was elected to serve as Milwaukee County Executive on April 7, 2020 and was sworn on May 4, 2020.

Bobby Portis brought the energy into every room he entered across Milwaukee County.

Whether it was a big playoff moment at Fiserv Forum, a community event with Visit Milwaukee, or simply interacting with fans, Bobby's passion, authenticity, and love for Milwaukee were impossible to miss. He played a key role in bringing an NBA Championship to Milwaukee in 2021 and became a Bucks fan favorite because of his heart, intensity, and leadership.

We'll miss you, Mr. Mayor! Thank you for everything you've done for Milwaukee, and best of luck in your next chapter.

Giannis Antetokounmpo helped transform not only the Milwaukee Bucks, but our entire community.

Since arriving to Milwaukee in 2013, Giannis has done more than become one of the greatest players in NBA history – he made Milwaukee County his home. He built a life here and welcomed his family into our community. Over the past 13 years, Milwaukee embraced Giannis, and Giannis embraced Milwaukee in return, creating a bond that extends far beyond basketball.

Upon the heels of the Bucks’ NBA Championship victory in 2021, there was an unmatched sense of excitement across Milwaukee County. From the electric atmosphere that filled our neighborhoods after Game 6, to the pride we all felt during the championship parade, we would not have those memories without our MVP.

Giannis has always carried himself with humility, determination, and a deep appreciation for Milwaukee. As County Executive and a proud Bucks season ticket holder, I've had the opportunity to see firsthand the impact Giannis has had both on-and-off the court. He put Milwaukee on the world stage, invested in our community, and inspired countless young people to believe that anything is possible through hard work and perseverance.

While Bucks fans across Milwaukee County are saddened to see him leave, we are also incredibly grateful for everything he gave to this organization and our region. His legacy will forever be a part of Milwaukee's story. The memories he created, the championship he helped deliver, and the pride he brought to our city will not be forgotten.

On behalf of Milwaukee County, I want to thank Giannis for his years of leadership, his commitment to our community, and the joy he brought to so many Milwaukeeans. We wish him, Mariah, and their entire family continued success and happiness in this next chapter.

Milwaukee will always be home to Giannis Antetokounmpo.

We often focus on men’s physical health, but their is equally important. This , you can support the men and boys in your life:
• Start a conversation: Check in with the men in your life and ask them how they’re doing
• Share resources: Let the men in your life know mental health support is available – and it works.
• Create safe spaces: Make homes, workplaces, schools, barbershops, gyms, churches, and other locations judgment-free zones so men feel comfortable opening up about what’s weighing them down

Happy Father’s Day, Milwaukee County! Today, we recognize the fathers, grandfathers, caregivers, mentors, and role models who make a difference in the lives of others every day.

As a father myself, I know that parenting comes with challenges, but it also offers some of life’s most profound joys. The lessons I’ve learned from my own father continue to guide me in how I lead, how I listen, and how I show up for my family and community.

To the fathers and father figures in Milwaukee County, thank you for the many ways you invest in your families, support your communities, and help create a brighter future for the next generation. I hope you have an opportunity today to celebrate, reflect, and spend time with the people who matter most.

Juneteenth reminds us of the progress we've made and the work ahead in the fight for freedom, equity, and justice for all.

Today, I joined thousands of community members at the 55th Annual Juneteenth Jubilee Parade and Celebration – one of the longest-running and largest Juneteenth celebrations in the nation. It was inspiring to see so many families, neighbors, community leaders, and organizations come together to honor this important day and celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of Black Americans.

As we celebrate progress, we must remain committed to advancing opportunity, breaking down barriers, and building a more equitable future for everyone. Thank you to everyone who helped make today's celebration so special. Milwaukee continues to show what is possible when we come together as one community.

Today, we celebrated a truly special investment in our community: a $100,000 award from Impact100 Greater Milwaukee that will fuel the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary Kitchen Project!

Today’s announcement is about more than a grant. It's an investment in people. It's an investment in a neighborhood. And it's an investment in the belief that I hold very deeply – that every single Milwaukee County resident deserves access to healthy food, stable housing, and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

As County Executive, I've made it a priority to work alongside community partners to address the root causes of disparities, not just manage the symptoms. And finding solutions to these challenges takes strong partnerships, innovative thinking, and a shared commitment to creating healthier, safer, and more equitable communities - one neighbor at a time.

Congratulations to Sister MacCanon-Brown and the entire team at MBHS for turning your vision into a reality. I can't wait to witness the growth and ripple effects this project will have on the community in the months, years, and generations ahead.

Today, we raised the Juneteenth Flag at the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

Progress doesn't happen by accident. It takes action. It takes persistence. And it takes partnership.

Juneteenth is a time to celebrate how far we've come, reflect on our history, and recommit ourselves to the work still ahead. While some continue to sow division in our nation, this day reminds us of the power of coming together to advance freedom, justice, and opportunity for all.

As we prepare to celebrate Juneteenth tomorrow, let's honor the resilience of those who came before us, uplift the voices of our community, and continue building a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

NEW: Today, I announced the opening of two new senior center sites for programming previously available at McGovern Senior Center, which closed in August following the historic floods.

Two sites, Embassy Center MKE and Havenwoods State Forest Nature Center, will host programming and offer social, educational, fitness, and recreational opportunities for older adults on Milwaukee County’s northwest side. Anyone who is 50 years old or over is welcome.

I am proud we are opening these new locations that will help us maintain critical programming while we work toward a long-term solution that supports healthy aging and improves the quality of life for seniors and older adults on Milwaukee County’s northwest side.
