✨ It’s Miller Monday! ✨
On Mondays, we’ll share a little local trivia and celebrate the people, places, and stories that make Miller such a special community.
🚂 Did you know? Miller’s first railroad depot was completed in just three days! Shortly after the town was founded in 1881, Henry Miller, working through a friend employed by the railroad, convinced the company to add a siding and depot at the new town.
A railroad construction crew arrived just days after the settlers drew lots, and three days later, the depot was complete!
A railroad siding is a short section of track that runs alongside the main railroad line. It allows trains to stop, load or unload passengers and supplies, or let another train pass without blocking the main track. In Miller’s early history, adding a siding meant trains could stop at the new town, making it much easier for people, building materials, mail, and goods to reach the growing community. 🛤
Follow along each week to learn something new about the town we’re proud to call home! 💙
