Thank you Keep Milledgeville Baldwin Beautiful and the Middle Georgia Association of Realtors for sponsoring a Spring Sapling giveaway at the March 6th First Friday! We gave away 200 Crepe Myrtle and Bald Cyprus saplings. Let’s all get ready for the next event on March 28th when Commissioner Scott Little and I host a joint litter pick-up on Dunlap Rd, North Jefferson, Ivey-Weaver, and Log Cabin. City Councilwoman Arlene Simmons and Southside Strong organizations are going to support our efforts and join us! Let’s keep this momentum going and Move Milledgeville Forward…Together! Thank you Jim Fain, Doris Veal, Jennifer Minshew, and Brandy Kennedy for being part of this event!

My daughter went to the movie theater the other day.
At the end of the movie, as everyone stood up to leave… almost the entire row just walked away from their trash.

She said,
“Are you just going to leave your trash?”

“Yeah… they clean it up.”

And it wasn’t just her friends.
It was a majority of the theater.
(I see the same thing at cheer competitions… trash everywhere.)

Y’all…
We’ve got to teach our kids to pick up their trash…
even if it is in fact someone else’s job.

In our house we:
• stack our plates at restaurants
• help the cashier bag groceries
• push our carts back to the corral
• put our dirty towels in a pile at a hotel
• we tidy what we touch

You can preach all you want about chores.
You can take things away.
You can lecture until you’re blue.
You can bribe them with rewards.

But nothing — NOTHING — is more powerful than simply modeling what you want to see.

Pick up the trash.

That’s how we raise humans who see beyond themselves.
