General information
In 1994, Shirley Baughman and Jean Davidson canvassed the Mill City and surounding communities, and an organizing meeting was held in September of that year. AT that well attended meeting, the Snior Center was born. First housing our activities at the Fellowship Hall of the Presbyterian Church, we then were ab;le to move operations to an office space generously donated by Mike and Jan Long in the Old US Bank Building. Fundraising efforts ensued By early 1996, there were sufficient funds for a down payment to Jim Dolby for the purchase of our current location.With a majjor volunteer push, the building was made usable. Later, with a generous donation from American Legion Post 159, the mortgage was amortized and more building improvements ensued. The Board of Directors is currently discussing the potential for more enhancenments to the building. We currently serve lunches once a month, hold bake sales, and provide social opportunities for community seniors, including our popular Friday afternoon Pinochle games. PMR 6/8/17
