As we continue monitoring roads across Precinct 3, several areas are experiencing flooding due to the heavy rainfall. County crews are actively working to help move water and keep roadways as safe as possible.

Unfortunately, the topography of Midland County causes most water to naturally flow south and east, and in some areas the elevation change is very minimal. That means water can move slowly off roads, fields, and properties during significant rain events. Once rainfall begins to slow, drainage conditions should continue improving.

Please use caution while traveling, avoid flooded roadways, and give crews space to work.

Most importantly: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Your safety is the top priority.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day. Their courage, sacrifice, and love for our country will never be forgotten.

We are also deeply grateful to the families who carried the burden of service alongside them. Because of their sacrifice, America remains the land of freedom and opportunity.

May we never take that sacrifice for granted. God bless our fallen heroes, their families, and the United States of America. 🇺🇸

I had the honor of recognizing Midland County 4-H students in Commissioners Court for their outstanding accomplishments over the past year.

These students have represented our community at stock shows across Texas—and even beyond—earning top honors, including Grand Champion titles. From cattle to swine to goats, their hard work and dedication truly stand out.

I’m proud of each of these young men and women, along with the families, ag teachers, and mentors who support them. The future of Midland County is in great hands.

Today, Midland County recognized the retirement of K9 Mia, an explosive detection dog who has faithfully served our community through the Fire Marshal’s Office.

At 13 years old, Mia has dedicated her life to keeping Midland County safe, and we are incredibly grateful for her years of service, professionalism, and loyalty.

It was an honor to also recognize her handler, Kevin Bullard, who has worked alongside Mia throughout her career. We are especially glad that Mia will enjoy her well-earned retirement at home with Kevin, who has cared for her since she first came to Midland County.

Thank you, K9 Mia, for your service to our community. Your work has made a lasting impact, and you will always be part of the Midland County family.

Enjoy retirement—you’ve earned it.

Today we celebrate Texas Independence Day — a defining moment in our state’s history.

On March 2, 1836, courageous men and women made the decision to pursue a future they believed was best for Texas. Their vision, sacrifice, and determination helped lay the foundation for the state we are proud to call home today.

May we always honor that spirit of leadership, resilience, and love for Texas.

Happy Texas Independence Day! 🇨🇱
