Jason Thomas Jones, owner of Dayton Dog Trainer LLC, was sentenced Tuesday to 15 to 19 years in prison after violating the terms of his probation. This sentence stems from the 2025 Miamisburg Police Department case involving cruelty of companion animals.

Today, the Miamisburg Police Department celebrates World Bicycle Day and encourages everyone to enjoy trails, parks, and neighborhoods safely on two wheels.

Whether you're commuting, exercising, or simply enjoying a ride with family and friends, remember these important bicycle safety tips:
✅ Wear a properly fitted helmet
✅ Obey all traffic signs and signals
✅ Ride with the flow of traffic
✅ Stay visible by using lights and reflective gear, especially at dawn, dusk, or night
✅ Keep your eyes and ears on the road—avoid distractions

During the month of May, Officers conducted 259 traffic stops, addressed 26 parking issues, were dispatched to 27 miscellaneous traffic complaints and investigated 73 traffic accidents.

Two Thermal Drone Flights
Sixteen Training Flights

Drone deployments during the month included a suspect search involving a stolen vehicle investigation within the city, as well as assistance provided to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office during a suspect search following a stolen vehicle traffic stop. The drone provided aerial search support and assisted officers with clearing search areas.

Training flights were conducted throughout the month to maintain pilot proficiency and operational readiness.

Five OVI Arrests
Included 2 alcohol-related crashes, with one injury crash.

OVI Task Force Activity
Members of the Miamisburg OVI Task Force conducted 12 hours of grant-funded OVI enforcement during the month, resulting in 21 traffic stops. Enforcement activity resulted in 19 warnings issued, 1 adult restraint citation, and 1 no operator’s license citation.

K9 Bolo
Three Patrol Deployments
Seven Detection Deployments

On May 2nd, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of North Heincke Rd. A free-air sniff was conducted, and K9 Bolo alerted to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle resulted in a m**h pipe being located inside the glove box. One arrest was made.

On May 1st, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Martins Dr. A free-air sniff was conducted, and K9 Bolo alerted to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle resulted in drug paraphernalia being located inside a purse within the vehicle.

Training / Certifications
On May 18, 2026, Officer Klein and K9 Bolo successfully completed their annual Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) certification renewal, maintaining certifications in Patrol Related Canine Unit Evaluation and Special Purpose Canine Unit Evaluation disciplines.

Today, Miamisburg Police Officers and volunteers with the Montgomery County Drug Free Coalition visited neighborhoods throughout the city, going door-to-door to share information about local addiction recovery and mental health resources available to families in our community.
