Congratulations to Sergeants Alfonso, Konetz and Prongay on graduating from the Southern Police Institute’s Command Officer Development Course at the University of Louisville.

Over the course of this intensive 400-hour program, they joined law enforcement professionals from across the country to strengthen their leadership abilities, explore emerging challenges in public safety, and develop strategies to better serve their communities.

Their commitment to continuous learning reflects the dedication and professionalism they bring to the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department every day. We are proud of their accomplishment and grateful for their ongoing service to our residents and visitors.

This morning, Sunny Isles Beach Police conducted a traffic enforcement operation resulting in 56 citations, 2 written warnings, and one vehicle towed. These weekly operations reflect our ongoing commitment to safety for all who travel through our city.

Wednesday's multi-agency traffic enforcement operation focused on keeping our roads safe and promoting responsible driving. The effort resulted in 2 arrests, 314 citations, 72 warnings, 4 vehicles towed, and 41 educational contacts. Thank you to our law enforcement partners for working together to enhance safety throughout our community.

Congratulations to Sergeant Patty Gonzalez on her retirement after 29 years of dedicated service! Sergeant Gonzalez began her career in the United States Navy before becoming a Florida State Trooper in 1997. She joined the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department in 1999, where she served in the Patrol Division and, most recently, as our School Resource Sergeant. We are truly grateful for her commitment to our department and the lasting impact she made in the lives of our students, teachers, and families. Wishing her all the best in this well-deserved new chapter!

Our Sunny Isles Beach PD tech tools continue to make a difference in public safety.

After a stolen e-bike was reported at a local business, officers quickly issued a BOLO, while our Drone Unit launched into action and located the suspect fleeing southbound.

Officers safely apprehended the suspect near the 14500 block of Collins Avenue, where he was positively identified and found in possession of the stolen e-bike and bolt cutters believed to have been used to cut the bike lock. The suspect was arrested and charged with Petit Theft and Possession of Burglary Tools.

The victim, a Sunny Isles Beach resident, was reunited with their property.

Preparation is everything. Recently, our team completed a mock accreditation assessment with certified Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation assessors as we prepare for our official re-accreditation in August. Every bit of feedback helps us grow stronger and stay committed to the highest level of professionalism.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice protects the freedoms we cherish today.
