Miami Rescue Mission strives to help formerly homeless women and children re-enter society as productive citizens. Successful graduates of our program will have addressed the issues of domestic violence, low self-esteem, anger, lying, misleading others and being easily mislead. They will also learn proper attitudes toward authority. They will develop healthy attitudes and learn to handle the stres
ses of life. Program participants also learn parenting skills and become involved with a local place of worship and learn to help other women who are experiencing difficulties. Individual and group counseling helps them set goals for their lives, further develop their academic and vocational skills and prepare for employment opportunities that are commensurate with their abilities. After homeless/abused single women or women with children complete their residential program at Miami Rescue Mission's Center for Women & Children and are ready to move out to be productive citizens, that move is not always so simple. Reintegrating back into the world is a time consuming and often costly measure. Safe and affordable housing is an enormous barrier to living successful lives for themselves and their children. Girlfriends 4 Girlfriends' goal is to establish affordable housing for these women and their children.
