A MOMENT I WILL NEVER FORGET. ✨

Yesterday, I had the tremendous honor of being officially sworn in as Commissioner T.L. Harris, Memphis-Shelby County School Board District 6.

Standing alongside fellow elected officials as we each took the oath of office was more than ceremonial—it was a powerful reminder that public service is a privilege, a responsibility, and a promise to the people who entrusted us to lead.

To every person who attended and shared this special moment with me—thank you. Your presence meant more than words can adequately express.

To my family, friends, supporters, and incredible team: this moment belongs to you, too. You prayed, sacrificed, encouraged, worked, believed, and stood beside me through every step of this journey. I will forever be grateful.

As I begin this new chapter, I do so with gratitude in my heart and a clear understanding of the responsibility before me. The campaign may be over, but the real work has begun.

District 6, I am ready to serve. I am ready to listen. I am ready to work. And I remain committed to ensuring our children, educators, families, and communities have a strong voice at the table.

There’s POWER in a community that shows up for its families. 💪🏾💙

It was a pleasure attending the 2nd Annual Man-Up Resource Fair at the Whitehaven Community Center—an afternoon centered on strengthening families, connecting our community to valuable resources, and creating conversations that move us forward.

“Building a Strong Community Through Building a Strong Family” is more than a theme—it’s the work. Strong families create stronger neighborhoods, stronger schools, and ultimately, a stronger Memphis.

Thank you to Councilwoman Pearl Eva Walker, the Whitehaven Study Group, community leaders, organizations, and every resource provider who invested their time and energy into making this event possible.

When we strengthen the family, we strengthen the foundation of the entire community. Whitehaven showed up. Community showed out. And the work continues. ✨
