82 years ago today, thousands of young Americans stormed the beaches of Normandy. Most of them were barely out of high school. Farmers' sons, watermen's kids, guys who grew up in small towns not unlike this one.
They gave everything so the rest of us could have the life we have. I don't take that lightly.
Grateful today and every day.

Thank you for everything you do! Never forget!

On this D-Day, we pause to honor the courage and sacrifice of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

We remember all who served and gave their lives in the fight for freedom. Their bravery remains a lasting legacy and a solemn reminder of the cost of liberty.

We honor them.

Happy Friday, St. Marys County Maryland
St. Mary's County Recreation & Parks is doing community input sessions this weekend on their five year plan. This is the plan that decides where park money goes, what open space gets protected, and what rural communities actually see built out over the next five years.
Today at Charlotte Hall Library, 9:30 to 11. Today at Leonardtown Library, noon to 1:30. Tomorrow at Wicomico Shores in Mechanicsville, 9:15 to 10:15.
Yea, Saturday morning. I know. But this stuff matters.
If you go, tell them you want boat ramps and public water access protected. Tell them the southern end of the county needs parks too, not just Lexington Park and Leonardtown. Tell them to fix what we already have before spending money on something new.

Go enjoy the weekend. It's a good one out there.

Look at these pictures. Does this look like a town center to you? The current St. Mary's County 2050 plan says it is. Piney point is not a town center. Its a place that needs to be protected at all costs. Help me do that.

NHRA St. Marys County Maryland Maryland International Raceway
MIR has been a St. Mary's County institution since 1966. Built here, owned here, run by this community for decades. Today the whole country is watching it on FOX. The inaugural NHRA Potomac Nationals, live on FOX, eliminations start at 3 pm Eastern today. St. Mary's County doesn't need to be anything other than exactly what it already is. And today the whole country gets to see that.
